Behind the Scenes of our Music Video Shoot

So last week we shot our very first music video for the song Hallelujah, Tear Me Apart (available in our web store, iTunes, and Amazon) with the incredibly talented Jonathan Davis directing.   Filming was some of the hardest work and most fun we’ve ever had.  Seriously, watching these scenes we had dreamed-up in meetings turn into reality was absolutely amazing.

The hours of raw footage are currently being cut and edited, and we hope to have a release date for you soon.  In the mean-time, here’s some behind-the-scenes goodness:

Special thanks to Jonathan Davis, Brian Escochea, Breanna Wilkins, Lizz Witty, Thomas Guest, and Ashley Sebastian for your work on the set; to Ben Reeves, Nicole Chaffee, and David Evans for wearing those ridiculous costumes and posing for what seemed like hours on end; and to Pat Carroll, Joseph and Crista Bailey, and Ashlee Clark for letting us borrow and/or have props.  We couldn’t have done this without all of you!

Mind-blowing Paper Art

OK, this has nothing to do with music, or really anything. And usually we post videos on Tuesdays, but I’m breaking the rules. This totally blew my mind, and I felt it had to be shared:

New Song: Hallelujah, Tear Me Apart

Just wanted to let you all know that we’ve released a new song. You can listen and download it for free at ReverbNation.

We’re really proud of this song, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Here are the lyrics:

You say you love what I create,
but you tear it apart.
You tear it apart, Love.
Did you sleep with the one I hate ?
When he tore you apart,
you tore me apart.

‘Cause you told me that you loved me
while you danced with someone else, and now you’re singing me a love song.
You tear me apart.
You tear me apart.

Singing hallelujah, everything is well.
Singing, hallelujah, yeah.
‘Cause everything’s a hallelujah
on the road to Hell.

You say you love what I create,
but they tear them apart.
They’re tearing them apart, Love.
Did you think you deserve a better fate?
When they tear them apart,
you tear me apart.
‘Cause you said you’d love each other. Did that include the inconvenient ones?
I’m singing them a love song.
You tear me apart.
You tear me apart.

Singing hallelujah, everything is well.
Singing, hallelujah, yeah.
‘Cause everything’s a hallelujah
on the road to Hell.
Sing it, hallelujah, yeah.

Music Pick of the Week

Crash Kings

A couple weeks ago I was driving with my 3-yr-old when this song came on the radio. She danced in the backseat and sang along. Later, the same song came on, and she recognized it within the first 5 seconds. I figured it was worth owning, bought the album, and haven’t been able to get it out of my head since. These guys have a killer raw-rock sound, and they’re doing it all without a guitar. Truly innovative, and genuinely fun. This one gets the Josh Carroll stamp of approval.

NEW SONG: An Open Apology to the Ghost of Girlfriends Past

We just added a new song to our music player (you can get to it on our website or at our ReverbNation page). An Open Apology to the Ghost of Girlfriends past is exactly what the title suggests. It’s slower and more mellow than some of the things we’ve put out before, and it features a killer fiddle solo at the end. I’m particularly proud of this song as it may be one of the most honest things I’ve ever written.

If you’re a member of our e-mail list, you can download an mp3 of the song for free. If you’re not, you can opt-in here to get the mp3.

Enjoy!

Black Hole LIVE

For your Music Monday enjoyment, here’s a clip of us playing our song Black Hole from the Let The Record Slow album recently at a talent show / fundraiser. The audio was a little too loud for the recording equipment, but it turned out OK. Enjoy!

If you like the song, you can buy it by clicking the Store tab on our site.
